Luisa Vélez-Sabano

Coordinator of Slow Food ALMA community

With professional training in Environmental Engineering and a master’s degree in Environmental Management, I am accredited by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition as an Environmental Consultant. I bring 8 years of experience in planning, implementing, and monitoring sustainable development projects in collaboration with national and international cooperation agencies. My areas of expertise encompass food systems governance, food security, sustainable agriculture, urban food markets, community development, and eco-gastronomic tourism, among others. I have fulfilled roles ranging from providing training and technical support to rural communities and farmers in sustainable agricultural practices, including agroforestry, soil and water conservation, and crop diversification, to advising and leading regional-global processes as part of FAO’s Urban Food Agenda.

Locally, I also coordinate a community that is part of the global Slow Food movement, advocating for good, clean, and fair food based on the pillars of protecting biological and cultural diversity, education, and political advocacy.
