Germany contributes €1 Million for Sustainable Development Goal 12

  • Published on December 9, 2019
The German Federal Ministry for Environment, Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) has pledged €1 Million for the One Planet Multi-Partner Trust Fund for Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG 12).

This first pledge for the Fund demonstrates the commitment from Germany to tackle unsustainable consumption and production patterns, the main cause of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution. The Fund aims to support countries in the implementation of the activities towards sustainable consumption and production.

What is Sustainable Consumption and Production? A systems approach that considers the entire life cycle of activities: from extraction of resources; processing into materials and products; the use of these products; and their disposal as waste or emissions. This systemic, value chain approach generates win-wins when applied to resource intensive sectors such as buildings and construction, food and agriculture.
