Too many young people remain unfamiliar with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Although youngsters throughout the globe are on the streets demonstrating in favor of a renewed fight against climate change, new research says they that too many of them remain unfamiliar with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Fewer than one-third of 800 surveyed 14-27 year-old Italians are acquainted with sustainability as a concept, according to a new Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition (BCFN) - Ipsos study “Young People, SDGs and Food”.

Today’s industrialized farms, complete with large CO2-emitting animals, fuel climate change. Our unhealthy diets are bad for our health - and the planet, yet only 9% of young Italians pointed to diet as a cause of global warming. In order for us to save our planet (and ourselves), our future generations need to learn about the importance of food in fighting climate change.
